Our policy will have little effect if we do not have the support and encouragement of all of our guests. To this end, we hope that you will join us on our journey by:

Saving energy

• turn off lights, heaters and electrical appliances when not in the room
• not expecting towel and linen change each day
• walking (or borrowing a mountain bike) when you wish to explore the local environment

Reducing waste

• reduce the volume of rubbish going to landfill by separating it for recycling

Minimising water use (water is not scarce here – but it uses energy to raise it from the well, pass through the filters and pump it to the buildings).

• don’t shower for too long – and think twice before using the bath.

Reduce pollution

• use only biodegradable cleaning products

Conservation contribution

• We support Forest & Bird Protection Society, Mt Somers Walkways Society & Tiritiri Matangi Supporters Organisation. We encourage you to get involved in your local conservation organization and/or support or join one of these organizations.

Support our local community

• We encourage you to buy locally at our Staveley Store or Dairy Factory Gallery &/or make a donation to the Staveley Historical & Geological Centre.
