Walking time  A number of walks during the day from 10 to 30 minutes each.

Walking distance 2 km

Track Well-formed, easy tracks & walking walking on untracked surfaces. No steep climbing involved.

Highlights During the day the complete altitudinal zonation of vegetation from forest to alpine communities is covered.  Large variety of alpine plants including vegetable sheep, edelweiss, mountian buttercups and specialised scree plants. All native plants are endemic to New Zealand. Mt Hutt is a very popular alpine plant location because of ease of its access by road and the variety of plants present.
