0. Leave Christchurch International Airport
1. 2^nd roundabout turn right onto Russley Road, now travelling south

4. Next roundabout, turn right onto State Highway 73 (Yaldhurst Road), now travelling west. Pass through small township of West Melton

26. State Highway 73 veers right at Aylesbury (small railway station, no town). Now travelling alongside West Coast railway line. Pass trough small township of Kirwee.

41. Darfield (township). Leave SH 73 on far (west) side of town at corner beside modern church on left. Now on SH 77. This road joins the Inland Scenic route 72 after approximately 8 km at a broad, sweeping left hand corner. Now travelling on SH 77 and ISR 72 (combined road designation). Keep on this road, pass Coalgate Tavern on left.

56. Glentunnel (township). Pass school on left, turn left over bridge on far (west) side town.

76. Turn left at Windwhistle Garage.

83. Cross over Rakaia Gorge bridge. Keep on ISR 72, travelling south.

108.  Staveley. Turn right into Boyds Road and continue for 300 metres, cross bridge and turn      right onto Flynns Road. Tussock & Beech Lodge is 710 metres up Flynns Road, passing Ross Cottage at 630 metres.
